Cory with the Great Bridge High School Key Club volunteered to work at the Spring 2010 TBA Homearama at Founders Point 5/8. It was very nice for the Kiwanis Club of Great Bridge to provide this fundraising opportunity to service groups in our community.
On Dec 15th The Indian River High School Key Club wrapped Christmas Gifts to be distributed to Cottage 2C residents of Southeastern Training Center.
Cory, treasurer of the Great Bridge High School Key Club, worked at Homearama 4 hours on Oct 13th. We are grateful that the Kiwanis Club of Great Bridge gave us this opportunity to raise a few funds to support the Key Club mission.
The annual Bark in the Park event was held Sunday 10/4. This is a major fundraiser for the Chesapeake Humane Society. All 4 key clubs sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Chesapeake provided a wonderful volunteer staff workers. Special thanks to Key Club advisors Ms. Kinsey and Mr. Mealy who assisted for the entire event.
The Chesapeake Heritage Festival was held Sep 19 & 20. All who participated had a wonderful time. We always enjoy this first gathering after summer vacation.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, Oscar Smith High School Key Club Members worked with the Kiwanis Club of Chesapeake in providing food and beverage services supporting the Hope House Foundation's  Chesapeake Arts Show Fundraiser at Portlock Galleries.  This two-day Event featured renowned artists' renderings in various mediums including painting, glassware, and metals.  Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips cookies, sodas and water were served to hungry and thirsty adults and kids alike.  Key Club Members provided valuable assistance while earning community service credits for their Club.  Our team efforts, great food and friendly service were applauded by the Show Officials, the artists, and families in attendance.  Most importantly, we had a great time working together as Kiwanians for a most worthwhile community resource.  More photos of this event can be seen on the Club Activity Photos Page.
On Thursday evening, December 18, Key Club members from Indian River and Oscar Smith High Schools Held a festive Christmas Party for patients at the Southeastern Virginia Training Facility Cottage 2C.  Refreshments were served, Christmas Carols sung, and gift bags stuffed with wrapped presents were opened by the patients with assistance of the Key Club members.  Indian River Key Club members had previously wrapped the presents for the party at school on December 15.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the party!
On Saturday, December 6, The Builder's Club from Greenbrier Middle School, and High School Key Clubs from Indian River, Deep Creek, Oscar Smith, and Great Bridge volunteered for Salvation Army Bell Ringing to raise money for the many charities and programs sponsored by the Salvation Army.  The volunteers greeted shoppers, sang Christmas Carols, and thanked contributors for their giving to help the less fortunate in our community.  The Builder's Club and Key Clubs did such a great job that over $775.00 was raised, and the contribution kettle had to be replaced at least once because it was full!!
Heritage Arts Festival & Bark-in-the-Park Festival Fund Raisers
Key Clubbers from Oscar Smith, Great Bridge, Indian River, and Deep Creek High Schools recently participated in two major Kiwanis fundraisers at the annual Heritage Arts Festival and Bark-in-the-Park Festival held at Chesapeake City Park.  The funds raised will go to support community children's programs and college scholarships.  Key Clubbers served up hamburgers, cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, lamb burgers, hot dogs, snow-cones, sodas, water, and snacks to hungry and thirsty folks at these events.  They were involved in all phases of the operation from making the burgers and dogs' to taking orders and serving the food and drinks.  These two very important fundraising events would have been virtually impossible without the enthusiasm and hard work of the Key Club members.
