  Greenbrier Middle School Builder's Club

Dec 5th was a great community service day. The Builders Club had the largest turnout of volunteers than our other clubs and most likely collected more donations than the other shifts. The club was so full of smiles and enthusiasm. The Salvation Army has asked us to relay sincere gratitude to all who worked at the kettle and to wish you a “Merry Christmas.”
Greenbrier Middle School Builders Club and SCA students visited the Relay for Life site and donated checks totalling $1500 to various Relay for Life teams. The students raised the money through fund raising projects throughout the school year.
It was a pleasure for Kiwanis Club of Chesapeake Members to visit Greenbrier Middle School on April 1, and attend the Kiwanis Builders Club Meeting there.  Linda Smith, Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Capitol District Division 21, Lankford Smith, Rick Gonzales and Reggie Erman thanked the Builders Club Advisors and Members for their participation in the Kiwanis Hampton Roads Region Mid-Winter Training Conference at Old Dominion University on March 7.  Particularly recognized was Builders Club Member Arielle, who gave an exciting presentation to all 275 attendees at the Conference, sharing the superb Projects that the Builders Club had accomplished or were planned this year.  LtGov Smith presented Arielle a Certificate of Appreciation for her outstanding poise and presentation at the Conference. The Builders Club just completed a community service project to collect and donate household cleaning supplies to the Our Family House Shelter in Chesapeake. The supplies were collected by the Club Members throughout Greenbrier Middle School. Totaling over 260 items,  they will greatly assist needy families at the Shelter, and clearly demonstrate the generosity of the students and families at Greenbrier Middle School.  The Staff at the Our Family House Shelter, were both delighted and amazed when they received the supplies. They conveyed their heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed items to this effort, and to the Builders Club for having such a wonderful Club Project to collect and donate them."
The Teacher-Advisors for the Greenbrier Middle School Kiwanis Builder's Club, Kathy Galford and Dani-Nicole Crawford, have done a wonderful job this school year organizing and focusing their students on projects that benefit the school and local community.  One very successful community event was the Salvation Army Bell-Ringing fundraiser in December where the Builder's Club greeted shoppers, sang Christmas Carols, and collected contributions totaling over $775.00 to help the less fortunate in our community. Recently, the Builder's Club raised $135 for Relay for Life by crafting and selling heart grams in the school.
